LibertyBus puts Islanders first & creates new jobs in Jersey

LibertyBus, Jersey’s new bus operator, has created ten full time posts since it started operating the Island’s bus service in January, with plans for more in the weeks ahead. Changes to the staffing structure now mean that it employs sixty four full time drivers. These developments have allowed some drivers who were previously working on part time contracts to get full time work as well as leading to the recruitment of additional new staff.

Six further part time driving posts and some roles for back office staff have also been created since January. LibertyBus is in the process of recruiting for six further full time driving posts and expects to create more opportunities for seasonal work over the summer.

“In the current economic climate, creating jobs where possible is a real priority for us – it makes a real difference to people’s lives” said Kevin Hart, LibertyBus General Manager. “All of these positions are specifically for people who are residentially qualified in Jersey which of course means that we are putting Islanders first.”

“I was actively seeking employment and now I’ve found it.” said Margaretta Collins, who started recently with LibertyBus as a part time cashier. “It’s been great working for LibertyBus instead of going to the job centre and signing on every week as unemployed.”
