LibertyBus takes next step to improve service reliability and efficiency

As part of our on-going activities to improve service reliability and efficiency, LibertyBus today confirms that all eastbound buses into town on routes 8, 9 and 12 will terminate at Liberation Station. This change will take place with immediate effect. Liberation station has always been the final scheduled stop (including under the previous operator). However, some services have been proceeding a further 170m to Broad Street which is an unscheduled stop.

Francesca Rotheram, Marketing Manager of LibertyBus said; “Buses arriving in town on these routes are not scheduled to proceed to Broad Street.  Driver training has highlighted that some services have been doing this through custom and practice.  This has had a negative effect on local traffic flow and can cause traffic congestion, especially in the morning and afternoon peak periods. It has also meant that the next scheduled departure of the vehicle from Liberation Station can be delayed. Additionally, the Broad Street bus stop is mainly for the use of the outbound services on routes 20 and 25 and the practice of dropping off inbound passengers on these routes has caused congestion at this stop.”

“We appreciate that an inbound bus dropping off at Broad Street is of value to some of our customers. However there are, for example, 28 weekday departures from Liberation Station on routes 20 and 25 which travel to Broad Street.”

The team at LibertyBus will be happy to answer any queries or receive feedback that the public may have. This can be arranged by calling or emailing our team (828555 or ).
