Liberation Day bus and road closure information

On Friday 9th May the Liberation Day service of thanksgiving and re-enactment will take place around Liberation Square. During these times buses will depart from temporary bus stops as there will be no access to Liberation Station between 8am and 2pm.

Notice is hereby given in accordance with article 67 & 68 of the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956 as amended, that in connection with the Liberation Day Events certain roads will be closed or restricted in their use as set out below:


LibertyBus is operating a Saturday service on Liberation Day.

Between the hours of 8am and 2pm, there will be no access to Liberation Station. Buses will be operating as normal however, there are likely to be minor delays due to road closures.

Buses which are scheduled to depart from Liberation Station between 8am and 2pm, going west (and returning from the west) will depart from the Esplanade (outside Channel Island Tyres). Buses coming in to town from the west will terminate at the Esplanade.

Buses travelling east from town will depart from Grenville Street bus stop, and buses coming in from the east will terminate at La Route du Fort (opposite Green Street Car Park) -  there will be staff on duty to guide passengers from Liberation Station to the temporary bus stop if required.

Please be at your bus stop (either Grenville Street or Esplanade) at the normal time of departure from Liberation Station.

Roads Closed

Esplanade from Conway Street to Castle Street closed from 8.00am until 2pm 
Weighbridge Place closed from 8am until 2pm 
Le Route de la Liberation to the Pomme d’Or Hotel closed from 8am until 2pm.
Mulcaster Street from Snow Hill/Halkett Place is closed from 10am until 11am and then again at 1230pm until 1pm
Halkett Place at the Junction of Beresford is closed from 10am until 11am and then again at 1230pm until 1pm
At 9am all roads around the Liberation Square will be closed until 2pm, which are as follows: 
Le Route De La Liberation from the Esplanade Gloucester Street, The Tunnel from Green Street La Route Du Fort. Commercial Buildings onto La Route De la Liberation.

Wharf Street from 7.30am the direction of traffic flow, will be charged so that traffic will be able to exit onto Conway Street until 2pm.

No Parking Areas.

No Parking Esplanade from La Route de Liberation to Weighbridge Place on Wednesday 8th May from 4pm until Thursday 9th May at 2pm.
No Parking in Church Street from 6pm on Thursday 8th until Friday 9th 12noon.
No Parking outside the Pomme d’Or Hotel from 5pm Thursday 8th until 2pm 9th May.
No Parking in Wharf Street from 7a.m. until 2pm 9th May.
No Parking Mulcaster Street/Weighbridge Place from 7a.m until 6pm 9th May. (Taxi’s only from 1pm until 6pm)
No Parking Grenville Street from Colomberie to Green Street from 7am until 2pm
No Disable Parking in Vine Street on 9th May from 7am until 1pm.
