From 1 February, prices frozen on AvanchiCard Pay As You Go, AvanchiCard Unlimited passes have been reduced and cash fares will increase by 10p
LibertyBus revealed the new fare structure today, which comes in to effect on 1 February 2014. As part of its on going commitment to ensure that the Island’s bus service remains a great value alternative to the car, LibertyBus is reducing the cost of the AvanchiCard Unlimited passes, and frozen the single fares on the AvanchiCard Pay-as-you-go.
This price reduction and price freeze on the AvanchiCards, provides customers with an easy option to avoid the 10 pence cash fare increase, which also comes into force on 1 February 2014.
The reduction of the AvanchiCard Unlimited and price freeze on the AvanchiCard Pay-as-you-go has been set to encourage Islanders to use their bus service, which has seen significant improvements over the past 12 months.
Deputy Kevin Lewis, Minister for Transport and Technical Services, commented ‘LibertyBus has now been operating for just over a year and there have been service improvements on many routes, including higher frequencies, notably the 1 and 15 which now operate every 15 minutes Summer daytime, as well as many new Sunday services. The AvanchiCard is another new initiative which provides more options for the customer. I hope more passengers will use this payment method and make the most of the advantageous prices.’
The review has led to the following fares:
Announcing the new prices, Kevin Hart, General Manager at LibertyBus, said. “Ticket prices have not increased for over 2 years in Jersey, however inflation has continued to rise, and this has meant the costs of putting on the service has risen too”.
“The decision to increase prices is never easy, which is why we’ve only increased the cash fare and frozen the AvanchiCard Pay As You Go price, giving our customers an option not to pay more. We’ve also reduced the cost of our monthly and weekly AvanchiCard Unlimited bus passes – making them an even better deal for frequent bus users.”
